Today we wanted to share with you the best kept secret in Iowa – Marshalltown! With both of us being Marshalltown natives, we wanted to share more about our hometown and where we both live and work.

Marshalltown Court HouseMarshalltown is over 150 years old, being founded in 1853 by Henry Anson. Marshalltown has grown and changed with the times, becoming a more inclusive and diverse community.

Rich in arts and culture, Marshalltown is full of hidden gems, such as the French Impressionist collection, and pottery and sculpture collection at the Fishers Community Center. Marshalltown also has a thriving live performance community with the Marshalltown Community Theatre, Marshalltown Municipal Band, and Marshalltown Live On Stage series.

There are several parks in Marshalltown that run throughout the city and along the river.  Bike trails connect the city to several outlying towns and nature centers. The Iowa River Trail is the newest bike trail to be started in the next couple of years.

The best part about Marshalltown, to us, is the people and the ability to get involved in the community! We both are super involved with everything from local non-profits to city businesses and local events.

Fauna is on the board of directors of the Marshalltown Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the Marshalltown Central Business District, and will be co-chairing the 2016 United Way campaign with Kelli. Fauna is also on the advisory boards for the IVCCD Orpheum Theater Center and the Marshalltown Police and Fire stations; she's on the board of directors for Planning and Zoning as well as the Marshalltown Regional Partnership.

Kelli is on the Marshalltown Development Foundation board of directors, the adjustment board, and is part of a young professionals/citizens group - I Give a Damn About Marshalltown

By getting involved in the community, we have created some lasting relationships that not only increase our business, but help us to better our community and fall further in love with the people here.

Marshalltown is a great community to live and we can’t wait to help you make your home here!
